Overview Description

This reserve is located on the south of the Ewaso Nyiro River while Samburu National Reserve is on the north. And sited at a short distance from the river, in a lush riverine forest is the Samburu Simba Lodge in Buffalo Springs. This huge, economical lodge is a delightful collection of structures with sloping roofs covered with wooden slats and paved stone floors. A walkway leads to the main reception and goes on to the expansive lounge, bar and dining area. Each of these areas has wooden beams holding up the roof and lightweight woven bamboo furniture to create an ambience of a grand accommodation. The floors are part hardwood and part stone. The lodge has seven villas that house 70 rooms in all. Every villa has 6 rooms on the ground floor and 4 rooms on the first. Two of these rooms are interconnected for smaller families traveling in northern Kenya. Top floor rooms are recommended for better views of the reserve. The lodge does not permit guests smoking in the rooms, but they have separate smoking areas guests can use. Some of the guest rooms have twin beds while others have double beds. A few of the rooms also come with an additional third bed. The back wall of the room has rough, soothing brick stone detailing and a ceiling fan adds to the comfort of the room. A writing desk and seating arrangement is also placed in the room. Large, sliding double doors open onto the private verandah outside where you can spend time in comfortable lounge chairs and watch herds of elephants, impalas, waterbuck and many more roam the Samburu ecology landscape below you. The attached bathroom includes a shower area and basic amenities you might expect in a budget accommodation.

Samburu Simba Lodge has two swimming pools, one of which is a low-level infinity pool offering views of the gorgeous Samburu wilds. Tall yellow fever trees provide shade and lounge chairs furnish the stone deck around the pool. You can also order drinks at the poolside bar as you spend time relaxing or soaking in the cool water when you return from your morning game drive or after lunch. To catch up with world news while on connected vacation in East Africa, you could visit the Ibis Pub where a satellite TV is set up for guests; though, unavailable during the day as the lodge is run on a generator which is only switched on for a few hours in the morning and evening till all guest retire to bed.
